A man was shot dead in front of UNIBEN’s main gate

A commotion broke out on Sunday afternoon outside the main gate of the Ugbowo campus of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) when a man was shot dead in his car.

In a video circulating online, the vehicle that appears to have collided with another car can be seen with bullet holes in the windshield, and the man appears dead at the wheel.

A crowd of people gathered around the scene, but ran in different directions when gunshots were heard again.

Unconfirmed reports said that the victim was a part-time Political Science student at the institution who had just finished his semester exams.

However, UNIBEN management has reportedly distanced its students and staff from the incident, and linked it to alleged cult activities off campus.
