The Abia State House of Representatives on Tuesday inaugurated Mr. Aaron Uzodike as the member of parliament representing Aba North Constituency of the State.
Uzodike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) replaces Labour Party member Destiny Nwangwu, who was sacked by the Court of Appeal last year.
The Court of Appeal, Lagos, on November 27, 2023, annulled Nwangwu’s victory in the March 25, 2023 State House of Assembly election in the constituency.
The court ordered the immediate withdrawal of the Certificate of Return previously issued to Nwangwu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In accordance with this order, the KPU issued a new return certificate to the PDP prospective candidates.

However, Uzodike’s inauguration was postponed after it was alleged that the court ruling was marred by controversy.
The Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr. JohnPedro Irokansi, administers the oath of office and allegiance to members of the House of Representatives during a plenary session in Umuahia.
In a brief remark after the inauguration, the Speaker of the House, Mr. Emmanuel Emeruwa, congratulated Uzodike on behalf of other members of parliament on his return to the House.
The returning lawmakers are members of the state’s Seventh Assembly.
In a chat with reporters after the ceremony, Uzodike promised to provide good representation to his constituents.
