After a failed gubernatorial bid, former State Department Senate President, Omo-Agege, sought a return to the upper house

Former Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the 9th National Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, on Thursday, submitted his nomination form for a chance to return to the Senate.

The former lawmaker wants to return to the upper house of the legislature on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections to represent Delta Central Senatorial District.

In a statement after the submission of the form at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja, accompanied by his political colleagues, Omo-Agege said the move was in line with the Nigerian Constitution and the guidelines of his party.

He added that “As we prepare for the 2027 elections, I promise to wage a campaign centered on issues and peace, that truly reflects the hopes and aspirations of our people.

Omo-Agege hopes to unseat Senator Ede Dafinone, the incumbent who holds the Delta Central seat.

Omo-Agege is seeking a return to the Senate, after he failed in his bid to become governor of Delta State in 2023. He lost to Sheriff Oberovwori who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

Oberovwori recently dumped the PDP for the APC, and is seeking a second term, a decision that will surely force Omo-Agege to rethink his gubernatorial ambitions and opt for a return to the Senate.
