Amazon moves to rival ChatGPT with new AI chatbot, ‘Metis’

A report by Business Insider revealed that Amazon is developing a consumer-targeted AI chatbot that may be released later this year to replace OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Codenamed “Metis,” the chatbot service will function based on a new basic concept and be accessed via a web browser.

It could also help Amazon’s plans to turn Metis into an AI agent—a device that can operate on its own by analyzing new data and making decisions based on its programming.

It is claimed that Metis can respond with conversational text and images. In addition, it can generate images, provide links to the original response, and suggest additional questions.

The creation of augmented retrieval, which allows Metis to obtain data from sources other than its original data to provide up-to-date feedback, such as market prices, is reportedly another feature that Amazon wants Metis to use.

Amazon has demonstrated the momentum of generative AI within Amazon Web Services and across the organization in an effort to refute the idea that it has fallen behind in the artificial intelligence (AI) technology race over the past year.

Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon and a person rumored to have close ties to “Metis,” has previously discussed a three-pronged AI strategy that includes allowing users to create native AI base models, helping them leverage pre-existing base models. , and create AI applications.
