MTN Nigeria has ordered the closure of its offices across the country due to violence that erupted following the disconnection of some MTN lines.
The problem started after telecom service providers like MTN, Airtel, Glo reportedly disconnected some customers for failing to link their National Identification Number (NIN) to their SIM cards, with MTN customers mostly affected.
Some users angry over the disconnection have stormed some MRN offices located in Lagos and caused chaos in the process.
The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC had to step in and order MTN and other telecommunications companies to restore the network temporarily.
However, due to concerns that violence may still occur, the telecommunications company in its message to its customers on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 announced the closure of its offices across the country.

“Yello, customers, please be advised that our stores nationwide will be closing today, July 30, 2024,” the company said on its customer service handle X.
However, MTN directs its customers to use their “digital channels” for support.
While no official reason was given for the closure, the move comes just 24 hours after aggrieved customers vandalized MTN offices in Festac and Isheri areas of Lagos.
Elsewhere in the country, customers whose power connections have been cut have besieged MTN offices in an attempt to fix the problem.
