Anambra State University: Announces substantial VC, the senior teachers of Couu Tell Soludo

Some members of the staff of the University of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu owned by Ambra’s state property invited the governor Chukwuma Soludo to announce the substantial vice chancellor of the institution to mark the end of the selection process.

The members of the staff, mostly senior teachers, who made the call in a statement to Awka, Wednesday, praised Soludo for insistently on the right trial and on the Council for their scrupulous effort.

The declaration that was signed by Prof. Peter Okonkwo, by Prof. Stephen Unachukwu and Prof. Mbanefo Odum on behalf of others, said that the research and selection committees concluded their processes and presented the result in Soludo.

They urged the governor to act on the recommendations in front of him, observing that this was for the first time in the 25 years of the university that the institution witnessed a transparent and credible selection process.

A source stated that the recommendation of the Committee of the Joint Selection Committee was presented to the Governor on Friday 1 August 2025.

Universities Dons said that the governor on the basis of a legally binding and procedural picture directed the school government council, under the guidance of Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, to guarantee rigorous respect for the right trial.

“The credit must be given to the visitor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who, with a thorough understanding of the university system, refused to predetermine a favorite result.

“The equality of praise is due to the selection and appointment committee of the Senate of the joint council of the seven members, who conducted a process without continuity that was unanimously approved by all members without dispute.

“The joint council /senate selection committee, after completing their assignment and presented to the visitor, is expected that the visitor, in line with ordinance 11 (4D) appoints the candidate who was the first,” he said.

Staff members said that the vacant position of the VC was advertised in the Vanguard newspaper of January 2, with the legal conditions for VC candidates as contained in the Couo law, 2014 expressly expressly for internal and external candidates.

They said that the government council adhered to the principles of the rule of law and the right trial and urged Soludo to keep the promise he made during the call to announce the VC as soon as he obtained the result.

They said that the Government Council had respected the law which states that the joint selection committee in light of the relevant provisions recommends three people in order of merit, for the consideration.

“The Council will take into consideration the list thus presented, determine its order of merit in accordance with the provisions of the university’s government documents and recommend the visitor for the appointment that the candidate ranked first in his ranking of merit.

“The Council will also also be the names of the candidates for the second and third, together with a reasoned justification for its certain order of merit,” he said.
