Official: Super Eagles 23-player roster for friendly matches, Okoye returns, three new players

Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has selected 23 players who will represent Nigeria in the upcoming FIFA international window, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Nigeria will participate in a four-team tournament in Türkiye, featuring Iran, Jordan and Costa Rica. It was originally scheduled to take place in Jordan, but was postponed due to escalating violence in the Middle East.

Super Eagles will not be in the world cup, but will use the tournament to begin the second phase of the team’s rebuild under Chelle, who led the team to a third-place finish at the AFCON in January.

They will open their tournament campaign against Iran on March 27, while Jordan will face Costa Rica in the other match of the tournament.

According to the organizer, the final round of games will be played on March 31, with Nigeria against Jordan and Iran against Costa Rica.

In Chelle’s 23-man roster, there was a call-up for Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, and a first-time call-up for three new players: Philip Otele from Hamburg in the German Bundesliga, Yira Sor from Belgian Genk and Emmanuel Fernandez from Scottish Rangers.
