The All Progressives Congress (APC) has shifted the presidential primaries to May 23.
The party will also hold a gubernatorial primary on May 21.
The APC presidential primaries were previously scheduled for May 15 and 16 in Abuja.
APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, disclosed this at the end of the party’s 186th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
He said: “We now have a new revised timetable in line with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, the 2026 Electoral Act, and the Independent National Electoral Commission revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 elections.
“We are hereby conveying to the press the revised schedule and activity schedule for holding the new 2027 elections.
“Notice was provided to state chapters on Monday, April 20. Sales of forms will begin this Saturday, April 25, through Saturday, May 2, 2026. The last day to submit completed forms and accompanying documents is now Monday, May 4, 2026. Screening of candidates – House of Representatives, House of Representatives, Senate, Governor, and President — will be held as follows: Wednesday, May 6 through Friday, May 8, 2026, respectively for the House of Representatives screening, DPR, Senate and Governor Saturday, May 9 2026 is a screening for Presidential candidates.

“Publication of the results of the DPR, DPR, Senate, Governor and President screening will be carried out on Monday, May 11 2026. Appeal screening will be handled by the appeals committee on Tuesday, May 12 to Wednesday, May 13 2026, for the DPR, DPR, Senate, Governor and President.
“All Progressives Congressional primaries begin as follows: Friday, May 15, 2026: House of Representatives primary. Monday, May 18, 2026: Senate primary. Wednesday, May 20, 2026: House of Representatives primary. Thursday, May 21, 2026: Governor’s primary. Saturday, May 23, 2026: Presidential election
