Atiku in Tinubu: call Seyi to order, Nigeria not a private property

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must urgently reinforce the members of his family, in particular his son, Seyi Tinubu, who seems determined to buy political loyalty for his father by any means necessary, including coercion, violence and intimidation.

The serious accusations made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (Nans), his partner Atiku Isah – supporting the physical assault, kidnapping and inclusion at the hands of Seyi Tinubu – are deeply alarming and hit the center of democratic rules and civil freedom. The fact that these serious accusations are leveled against a member of the first family is both disturbing and dangerous.

If this accident had ended fatally, it would have been recorded between the growing list of atrocities committed by criminal elements in the country. The fact that it is presumably linked to the president’s son makes him even more horrible. What is worse is the emerging suggestion that even the best security officials are not beyond the exaggerated influence of Seyi Tinubu – an unacceptable compromise of state institutions.

It is intolerable that the first family tries to subjugate the nans – or any group of civil society – through threats, bribes or brute force. Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy handed down to a family.

The well -intentioned Nigerians must rise to speak. The actions of the President’s family – in particular their angry push to consolidate political power through manipulation and fear – must be condemned unequivocally. We must remember that the presidency is public trust, not a private legacy.

Attempts to drag former vice -president Atiku Abubakar into this scandal by supporting a political alliance with his partner Isah are unfounded, harmful and desperate. The meeting of Atiku Abubakar with Isah focused exclusively on the reform of education and the improvement of students’ well -being, which also includes institutions that he had founded, such as the American University of Nigeria and Aun Academy.

The defense and public position of Comrade Isah must be evaluated on the basis of the fact, not to fiction. The accusations of abuse that made an independent investigation request, above all because the same agencies intended to protect citizens seem accomplices in his ordeal.

Let’s emit a clear warning: nothing should happen to this young man. Any damage for him will not go unnoticed or unmistakable. The Nigerians deserve the truth, responsibility and leadership that respects the rule of law, not a regime that arms the power to silence dissent.

Atiku Abubakar remains firmly engaged in the principles of democracy, the state of law and the use of education as a milestone for national progress and development. It will not be distracted by false narratives or cowardly intimidation.
