Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has introduced 86 new medical laboratory scientists in the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), with a strong demand for innovation, ethical practice and technological progress in the nation health system.
The 13th induction ceremony, held at the 600 -seater auditorium at the University School of Medicine, brought together the best academics and medical professionals who have challenged the degree class to support the highest standards of professional integrity and contribute significantly to national health development.
Providing the key speech, Professor Agostino Onyeaghala, professor of chemical pathology and toxicology at Chrisland University, underlined the importance of innovation, regulatory compliance and guaranteeing quality in modern medical laboratory practice.
“The future of the sciences of the medical laboratory depends on our ability to innovate responsibly, to create sustainable technologies and remain ethically rooted,” he said.
“Your relevance will be measured not only by your technical ability, but by your commitment to accuracy, timeliness and service to humanity.”
The president/deputy jailing of the University, Professor Ademola Tayo, described the ceremony as more than a routine academic milestone, underlining that the induced ones play a fundamental role to play in facing the growing complexity in healthcare.
“As medical laboratory scientists, you are vital for the survival of health delivery in an era in which the systems are tense and the resources are elongated,” said Tayo.
“This induction marks the beginning of your service to humanity.”
The head of the department, Prof. Esther Adejumo, has strengthened the need for ethical integrity in professional conduct, observing that behind every result of the test is a human life.
“Let your science be guided by ethics. Build the future of health with precision and compassion,” he said.
Even speaking, the Mlscn’s chancellor/CEO of Dr. Donald Ofili, urged the new induced students to be permanent students and support the confidentiality in the care of patients.
“The health sector depends on your experience,” he said. “Stay diligent and become quality and professional ambassadors.”
The event also celebrated academic excellence, with 11 students who graduated with first -class honors.
Elizabeth Kehinde Olukoya emerged as the best degree student, establishing a new record in the history of the department.
“I am honored to be part of this trip,” said Olukoya.
“This result has the responsibility of supporting the values of our profession and contributing to national development”.
The induction ceremony marks another milestone in Babcock’s commitment to produce competent, ethical and innovative professionals in the medical field.
