Bandits kill three soldiers and four policemen in ambush in Zamfara

Armed bandits on Thursday killed three soldiers and four policemen along the Zamfara highway on Thursday.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dalijan, confirmed the development to journalists in Gusau.

He said a joint team of security forces was deployed following reports of bandits planning to attack construction companies along the highway.

CP said security agents rushed to the scene, but the bandits ambushed and opened fire on them.

He stressed that the troops fought bravely to repel the attack.

Dalijan said: “The bandits wanted to enter the Setraco camp to kidnap some of the company’s staff. We had information, we sent our men without knowing that they had set up an ambush on the road.

“As we were walking, they faced heavy resistance from the bandits, they opened fire, exchanged fire, and in the process, we also lost a number of military and police personnel.”

“We lost three soldiers and four police.”
