BREAKING: INEC declares Governor Oyebanji winner of Ekiti governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday.

Oyebanji polled a total of 319,224 votes to beat his closest rival, Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 40,543 votes. Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 12,872 votes.

Announcing the results on Sunday morning, the State Returning Officer, Adenike Oladiji, said Oyebanji was elected after he fulfilled all legal requirements and recorded the highest number of votes.

Oyebanji’s victory marked a historic achievement as he became the first governor of Ekiti State to win re-election.
