Serie A side Cagliari have identified 29-year-old Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers as one of the options to strengthen their attack ahead of the start of next season. Own goal Nigeria.com understands.

They have reportedly made an approach to bring the striker back to Serie A, but Rangers’ asking price of €5m is causing the deal to stall as they want the same amount they signed him for from relegated Serie A side Cremonense last summer.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Sardinians are now studying the possibility of signing the striker who scored 22 goals last season in all competitions on loan, with an obligation to buy him at the end of next season.

In his only season in Italy’s top flight he scored six goals in 26 games. A full international for Nigeria, he currently has two goals in six games, the last of which came in a 2-1 friendly win over Ghana in March.

Greek side PAOK are also in the running for the striker and Rangers are open to his departure as they seek funds to strengthen other areas of the squad that require urgent attention.
