CD reassure improved strategies to end violence in the state of the plateau
Jos (Core Reporter) Chief of Defense Staff of Nigeria, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, said that the armed forces are re -evaluating their strategies to prevent attacks for bandits in the communities in the state of the plateau and in other areas under operation by Safe Haven. This was revealed during his operational visit to the headquarters of the Safe Haven operation in Jos, in the State of the Plateau, Friday 1 August 2025.
A declaration of the director of the defense information, said Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, General Musa underlined the need to adapt military tactics to face the asymmetrical nature of the current conflict. He appealed to local leaders to encourage their young people to identify and isolate criminal elements inside and among the communities to prevent widespread disorders and maintain peace.
General Musa said: “We must take decisive actions to stop the cycle of violence that affects the plateau and neighboring states that face similar challenges”. He asked for a renewed sense of responsibility between the commanders and undertook to believe that anyone who found their duties neglect. The CDs also promised to strengthen operational skills with improved logistical support.

In his observations, the main general Eyitayo Folusho Oyinlola, the commander of the Safe Haven operation and the general official who command 3 division of the Nigerian army, have highlighted the results of the operation despite the recent setbacks. He expressed his commitment to support these efforts to protect vulnerable communities in the region by adding that the command has deepened the existing relationship with other security agencies to build a stronger intelligence network for effective operations.
He reassured the CDS that the Safe Haven operation will not give in until the peace process has started will be completed with visible tests throughout the joint operating area.
Previously, General Musa also visited the Nigerian army medical center in Tigi and sector 6 to Jebbu Bindi, within the area of the local government of Riyom in the state of the plateau. He has promised his support to the healthcare facility to ensure that he provides efficient medical assistance to the first -line troops and the surrounding community. In his visit to the community of Jebbu Bindi, he urged the troops to remain vigilant and fully engaged in their duties, underlining the importance of maintaining strong relationships with the community to safeguard peace and security.
