A Chinese company of generation of energy, CCETC, has announced its intention to establish an electric power plant and an industrial park in the state of Ogun, in what is described as a great impulse to the push of the state industrialization.
The president of the company, Guo Xianda, revealed it over the weekend during a strategic meeting with the governor Dapo Inhabitun and the best government officials at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abakuta.
Xianda revealed that the company would install a 3 MW power plant at Gateway International Agro-Cargo airport, Iperu-Ilrishan, for free, to accelerate economic activities at the structure and its surroundings.
The development follows the recent investment mission of Governor Inhabitun in China, where he guided a delegation to involve international investors in sectors such as technology, energy and production.
Xianda explained that CCETC, which is based in Jiangsu, China, already has a strong presence in Nigeria with over 250 MW of projects in operation and a total global distribution capacity of over 5,000 MW.
He said that the interest of the company for the state cuts of Ogun in three critical areas: POwer generation and distribution; INvestment in a dedicated state transmission network; and andEstablishment of an industrial park to host Chinese producers and other investors.
“Our plan is to contribute to the development of the state of Ogun by strengthening its energy infrastructure by creating an industrial center that will attract producers from China and beyond,” said Xianda.
The governor inhabitants, in his response, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a strategic investment that aligns with the vision of his administration to position Ogun as an industrial capital of Nigeria.
“The company will strategically focus on three areas: the production of energy and the distribution of energy in the state, investing in transmission and creation infrastructures of an industrial park that will integrate energy projects with production clusters,” said the governor.
Inhabitun also revealed that his administration would bring the Ccetc team to an ongoing energy projects tour, including those performed by Sahara Group and Powergen, as part of the efforts to guarantee the supply of reliable electricity throughout the state.
The governor added that Ogun was determined to exploit these partnerships to improve the power supply, attract multiple investors and create jobs for his residents.
