The police commissioner of the State of Kogi confirmed the death of Muhammad Kassim, popularly known as Aenemi, a suspicious gunner of the Aidah, in the state of Kogi.
According to the police, Kassim died while trying to evade the arrest.
The confirmation was issued to counter the widespread requests circulating on social media claiming that Kassim died in police custody due to torture.
A declaration issued by the spokesman for the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, law:
“The police forces of Nigeria, Kogi State Command, want to put the record in straight as regards the imposed relationship on social media on the death of a Muhammad Kassim, aka Enemi, of the Aidah, in the state of Kogi.”
The police said that Kassim was presumably part of a union involved in the trafficking of weapons and ammunition through and beyond the state of Kogi. The case, they observed, is currently under investigation at the Lokoja criminal investigation department.
