The State Government of Ogun praised Cement Plc Dangote for the donation of operating vehicles to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma), describing the gesture as a push for road safety and traffic management efforts.
Speaking during the presentation of the vehicles, Ogun’s state commissioner for transport stated that the donation underlined the recognition of the company’s company in maintaining the order on the roads.
He observed that the vehicles would improve the mobility, response times and agency’s visibility in the main traffic corridors.
“We are immensely grateful to Dangote Cement, which we are proud to host in our state, for the recognition of the critical role that our agency plays in maintaining order on our roads and for having chosen to invest in our ability to serve.
These vehicles will improve our mobility, improve our response times and strengthen our presence through the corridors of key traffic, “said the commissioner.
In his observations, the general manager of Lastma, Bakare-Oki, described the donation as proof of which effective collaboration between the public and private sectors could reach.
He said: “He reflects a profound understanding that traffic management is not only a responsibility of the government: it is a shared civic duty that affects every commuter, every company and every family.
“When we receive this vehicle today, we reaffirm our commitment to use it with judgment, while keeping it diligently and strategically distributing it to improve the flow of traffic, reduce accidents and guarantee the safety of all road users.”
Bakare-Oki also praised the commitment of the officers of the lasma, observing that their dedication had made a significant contribution to road safety.
“With new resources, their work will have even more impactful,” he added.
The head of Lastma assured Cement Dangote that the vehicles would have been used, expressing optimism on future collaborations that would further improve traffic management and public safety.
