Do not be fooled by the offer of shipping free petroleum products, this is a Greek gift, Nupeng tells Nigerians

The Nigerian Oil and Gas Workers Union (Nupeng) has urged Nigerians not to be fooled by petroleum refineries and petrochemicals from the delivery of oil products nationally to dispose of the station, describing the offer as a Greek gift aimed at destroying competition.

This even when the Uni described the dangote group, the owner of 650,000 barrels per day refinery as a symbol of the unreasonable capitalist network, was established to destroy competition, all with the ultimate goal of rising fuel prices in the long run.

This is according to a statement by President Nupeng Akporeha Williams and Secretary General of Afolabi Olawale entitled “The Petroleum Dangote Refinery False School which was exposed” by Nupeng on Friday, September 12, 2025.

This is the latest in dealing with union and refineries.

Dangote unity and refineries have been involved in running battles on alleged refinery rejection to allow drivers to join Nupeng.

This caused a strike by Nupeng which was only completed by the Ministry of Manpower and Employment.

Shortly after the strike was canceled, the union again raised fears that the Dangote refinery had denied the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties, threatening to continue the suspension of the suspension.

Reacting, Dangote Refinery notes that trade unions are voluntary and non -mandatory decisions, while emphasizing that it does not interfere or limit the rights of its employees to freely join the union that is legally recognized.

This condemned the distortion of facts by Nupeng regarding the relationship of refinery trade with his workforce.

In the Counter statement, Nupeng noted that the press statement by Dangote Petroleum Refinery dated September 11, 2025 had confirmed that the dangote group was a symbol of unreasonable capitalist networks that were built on falsity to beat easily fooled to destroy our union – also a destroying competition, all with the ultimate goal.

“The Nigerians should not be fooled by the offer of delivery of oil products nationally to the expenditure station. This is a Greek prize to ensure that other petroleum truck drivers entrepreneurs cannot employ drivers, so that only those employed by companies that are forced to join DTCDA will continue to work. “It is also noteworthy to state here that, apart from the driver of oil tankers, there are operational and other administrative workers from Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company that have prevented management and blocking their ownership rights throughout the Union.

“Nigeria must not support work arrangements where drivers and other workers in the dangote group will be rejected their rights to enjoy freedom of association and trade unions.

“The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers warn that the whole world that nothing is undesirable happened to one of our leaders who fought for this struggle because we knew how desperate and destructive capitalist with dirty wealth could be when not in the same and exposed.

Union emphasized that the dangote refinery also mistakenly denied not to stop the truck driver from Nupeng while clarifying that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on September 9, 2025 was based on the recognition of the company’s resistance to trade unions.

“Therefore, the birth of the MoU is a confirmation of the initial resistance to enable freedom of association. Although the MoU on September 9, 2025, on September 11, 2025, the Dangote refinery directed that Nupeng stickers were issued from all trucks to be replaced by association stickers, Association of Direct Truck Company (DTCDA).

“Our members strongly reject this development. Dangote petroleum refineries have sponsored the division in the Petroleum Tanker Driver (PTD) from our Union since 2023.

“Corporate agents in our union have lost in elections. Those who have lost in the election at the PTD Nupeng branch are recruited to form the Driver of Direct Truck Company Drivers (DTCDA) with bad fate.

“Corporate agents who have lost in elections at the PTD Nupeng branch are among those who provide media interviews to support the company,” said the trade union.
