Deputy Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (Custech), Osara, Professor Abdulrahman aspite urged the Nigerians to emulate the heritage of the late ENGR ENG Joseph Oyeyani Makoju in the energy and manufacturing sectors.
Professor assets made the call to the third commemorative lesson that he held in honor of the icon of the deceased sector, Engr Dr. Joseph Oyeyani Makoju, implemented by Federal University, Lokoja during the weekend.
Professor assets in his lesson, entitled Joseph Oyeyani Makoju: archetype of transition of adaptive energy and concrete production “described the imprint of the late illustrious son of the state of Kogi as commendable and worthy of emulation.
He said the Late Engr Joseph Makoju was able to revolutionize the production of cement that brought operational efficiency and expansion capacity in the concrete sector.
“During his career, he exemplified professionalism, diligence and ethical leadership. These qualities should guide our approach to governance, industry and academic world. His ability to navigate in complex challenges and guide the transformative change is a model for leaders of all sectors.
“Engr Makoju’s ability to predict sector trends and adapt accordingly it was an important factor for its success. He recognized the role of technology in improving efficiency and promoting sustainability. We must continue to encourage innovation to guide economic growth.
“His commitment to responsible industrial growth is a guiding principle for our efforts to build a sustainable future. Since climate change and environmental concerns are at the center of the scene, we are responsible for the implementation of sustainable practices in all sectors, in particular in energy and production.
“Investing in the development of human capital is crucial to support national progress. We must actively cultivate the next generation of engineers, politicians and the sector leaders.
“He underlined the importance of developing local engineering skills, a crucial factor in the guidance of sustainable development
“Its dedication to the development of local talents and ensure that these talents have been included in national infrastructure projects is an example that Nigeria must follow”
In his welcome speech, the deputy chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, said that the commemorative lesson was established by the University as his modest way of honoring the immense contributions and the life of the impact of Late Engr. Dr. Joseph Makoju.
“It was a giant in the energy and production sectors, a manufacturer of nations and, above all, a man who has given altruistically for the growth of education and the improvement of humanity.
“At the lesson of the 2 commemorative, the Makoju family announced a very generous donation of a theater of conferences at the university in honor of their beloved patriarch. To the glory of God, I am pleased to announce that the reading has been completed and commissioned
“Let me indicate here with all the sincerity that the only way in which we, as university, could return the rare and generous gestures of the Late Engr. Joseph Makoju is establishing this annual commemorative lesson. This lesson is not only a tribute to his memory, but a platform to support the ideals and values for which he lived: exclusion, construction of the nation.
“The Makoju family has remained a reliable pillar for supporting our university and we cannot thank them enough.
“Today’s lesson, entitled” Archetype of the adaptive and manufacturing energy transition of concrete “, is truly timely and relevant, above all because Nigeria and other developing nations seek sustainable ways to switch to cleaner energy sources without compromising industrial growth.
