Donald Trump urged NATO countries to stop ‘surprising’ Russian oil to end the Ukraine War | US News

The war in Ukraine will end if all NATO countries stop buying oil from Russia, said Donald Trump.

The US president, in a post on the social platform of his truth on Saturday, said the alliance’s commitment to win the war “had been far more than 100%” and the purchase of Russian oil by several members was “surprising”.

Doing it “greatly weakens your negotiation position and bargaining power, on Russia,” he said.

NATO Turkish members have become the third largest Russian oil buyer since 2023, after China and India, according to the Clean Energy and Air Research Center, with fellow Hungary and Slovakia members also bought energy supplies from Moscow.

The prohibition of NATO in the practice plus tariffs in China will “also be very helpful in ending the deadly war, but silly,” he added.

The president said NATO members also had to place 50% to 100% tariffs in China – and only attract them if the conflict ended.

‘Chinese grip’ in Russia

“China has strong control, and even grip, over Russia,” Mr. Trump posted, and a strong tariff “will break the grip”.

The US president has placed a 25% import tax for goods from India for the purchase of Russian energy products.

Mr. Trump said the responsibility of the war fell on his predecessor Joe Biden and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

He did not include in the list of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who launched the invasion.

The village changed hands

On the battlefield on Saturday, Russian troops took control of the Novomykolaivka Village in the Dnipropetrovsk Southeast Ukraine region, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
