The First Lady of the state of Ebonyi, the head of Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has reported the “Baby Shower Initiative and Maternity Day, a health focus on support to support pregnant women and nursing mothers throughout the state.
The event that was honored by Madri waiting and nursing, health professionals and key stakeholders was a testimony of what the governor’s wife described as a day of celebration.
Ebonyi’s First Lady also described the day as “a day of commitment and, above all, a day of love for women who bring the future of our great state”.
He underlined the importance of the initiative as a compassionate and strategic intervention of the Foundation of the Ministry of Health and Berwo.
“The initiative focuses on giving mothers access to maternal care, education to health and basic needs.
“The Baby Shower initiative does not only concern gifts and celebrations, but a way to say: you are not alone. Let’s see, we support and we are here for you”.
Mrs. Nwifuru appealed to women to attend prenatal and postnatal events, listen to health professionals and take their well -being seriously.
“Every mother deserves dignity, every child deserves a healthy beginning and no woman should die while giving life.”
The state commissioner for health, dr. Moses Ekuma, said that the aim of the initiative is to encourage pregnant women to register for prenatal assistance in primary health centers, general hospitals and other health facilities throughout the state.
“The goal of this initiative is that pregnant women are recorded for prenatal training, deliver their children in healthcare facilities and ensure that their children receive a complete immunization.”
“I congratulate his numerous health interventions, revealing that over 4,000 pregnant women and 300 falciform patients have already been enrolled in the state health insurance system.
“The initiative has significantly contributed to the reduction of maternal mortality in Ebonyi.
The Berwo Foundation team leader, Prof. Nkechi Eciagu, revealed that the initiative turns to 17,000 women in 171 primary health centers selected in the rural areas of the state.
“We have targeted rural areas because women in cities already have access to higher level health care.
“We are focused on achieving women who still depend on traditional birth assistants. This is our way of encouraging them to use formal health care services”,
“We also evaluate healthcare professionals in the state who have eaten key partners in reducing maternal mortality and promoting healthier families.
The officer of the Desk of the Baby Shower Initiative, Ngozi Aloh, described the flag as a turning point in the ownership and sustainability of the program.
“We are capturing 171 structures in all LGA and you can see the gifts with which we are starting: diapers, straps, mother care, wipes and oils”, “
The event characterized the distribution of articles for children in mothers and pregnant women.
