Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Eradication Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has condemned the repackaging and reselling of aid disbursements by the Federal Government to cushion the impact of its policies on Nigerians.
Olukoyede, according to a statement issued on Friday by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, spoke when the Chief Executive of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Olatunji Bello, visited the commission’s offices in Abuja.
He stressed that the resale of aid was detrimental to the government’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
Olukoyede urged the FCCPC to share intelligence information with the EFCC to improve its operations.

“Sometimes, when the government distributes social assistance, the assistance does not reach the intended recipients.
“Instead, some individuals repackage, rebrand, and sell it. There are various types of fraud in our system. Therefore, it is very important for you to share information with us to support your compliance or oversight department and your overall operations.
“If you have such information, please do not hesitate to let us know. You have successfully identified the problem, but sanctions are also necessary.
“The only thing that deters people is sanctions. We are committed to strengthening our collaboration and taking it to a higher level to ensure that people feel the impact of your work,” the EFCC boss said.
Meanwhile, the FCCPC chief said he was at the EFCC to seek greater collaboration between the two organisations.
