The Federal Government declared on Friday 5 September 2025, a holiday to celebrate Eid-Ul-Maulud, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The Minister of the Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced it in a declaration signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo urged the faithful Muslims to reflect on the virtues of the prophet of peace, love, humility, tolerance and compassion, underlining that these values remain vital to build a united, prosperous and progressive nation.
He also invited the Nigerians of all faiths to use the opportunity to pray for peace, security and stability in the country, while supporting government’s efforts to promote national harmony and sustainable development.
“The celebration of Eid-Ul-Maulud offers us another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, promote peaceful coexistence and absorb the prophet’s teachings on mutual respect and the altruistic service to humanity,” said the minister.
Tunji-Ojo has also urged citizens to remain respectful of the law, attentive to security and support for policies aimed at guaranteeing the collective well-being of all Nigerians.
He wanted all Muslims a joyful and peaceful celebration of Eid-Ul-Maulud.
