#EndBadGovernance: Shettima urges Nigerians to shun planned protests

Vice President Kashim Shettima has appealed to youth to avoid planned nationwide protests set to begin on August 1.

Shettima, according to a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by his media aide, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, made the appeal at the palace of the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar El-Kanemi, in Maiduguri.

The Vice President was the Special Guest of Honour at the wedding ceremony of the four daughters of the Shehu of Borno.

H noted that it was time for unity and development to be focused in this country.

He stressed that protests were never a solution for countries to solve their challenges, but instead a path to the destruction of human lives and property.

The Vice President, who called for peace and unity, appealed to Nigerians to avoid planned protests.

He said: “I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to our people to shun violence. There can be no development without peace; there can be no peace without development.

“I would like to appeal to all young people not to follow in the footsteps of anarchy and destruction.”

He implored Nigerians to keep faith in the Federal Government.

“In the not too distant future, all government efforts to firmly reposition the country as a country with the strongest economy and social welfare for its citizens will become real,” he said.
