My favorite of the Evil Dead franchise
They increased the comedy in Evil Dead 2 in an attempt to ease the ratings issues that they ran into on the first ED.
The first one was rated X by the MPAA, they got it down to a NC-17 but could never get an R.
So, with 2 they eased up the tone.. included more humor (Raimi and Bruce Campbell are huge 3 Stooges fans) and they did different colors for blood (green, black, pink).. but.. still got an X rating from the MPAA. He did manage an R rating, but.. cut around 20 minutes out of the film.

That pacing was to rehash the first movie as quick as possible since they didn't have the rights to use footage from the first film. Army of Darkness also faced a rights issue so severe that it's not ash vs the army of darkness, it's Bruce Campbell vs the army of darkness😂

The Necronomicon props and the recreations use a special font that's actually translatable. The person who did the drawings and inscriptions actually used the font to write comical stuff. "Visit scenic Castle Kandar" (castle illustration) "So not eat" (illustrations of eyes), "Raw, medium, well" (3 stages of decay illustrations), "Hey guys. Get a load of this!" (larger demon from back facing smaller demons)…

my first car was an 83 Pontiac Parisienne. I loved it because it was a giant boat on the road and fun to drive. i went camping and hit the ditch and drove it on rims for 15k to the tire shop. didn't cost me much to repair as i bought used rims and provided the tires(winters) . Had 2 eight inch subs and a 10 inch sub in the trunk and a tape deck with a cord for a 5 disc cd player like in McGruber

the reverse shots are REALY GOOD usually when movies alter the play speed its obvious like when they speed up the film to make cars seem they going fast… it just looks like speed up footage. the same with reverse shots usually. these ones dont look like that even tho you know its reverse to make smoke move like that the film itself doesnt look reversed.

I always did enjoy how Sam Remi subverted two classic tropes in horror movies one instead of having a final girl you have a final boy and Ash and two the other trope is that you kill off the final girl in the sequel and in this one he lives, obviously to go on for a third movie, but still none nonetheless Samini breaking all of the traditional rules, which then created one of the greatest characters in horror, movies, and Bihar and B level movies in general
In this sequel is where the legend of the character of Ash begins in other words, the attitude and the way the character act and has become a beloved character to all of us start hearing this one or in other words what we all call wise cracking ash starts from this movie forward
I totally forgot you guys are on the second movie haven’t done the third installment. I was about to spoil some stuff and I caught myself and re-edited this comment. I will wait until the third movie and then make it again, but let’s just say this trilogy breaks a tradition and most horror movies when it comes to main characters and I’ll explain on the army of darkness video when it when it comes out.
I know a lot of people are kinda when they first saw the second second movie this one like why is this going so fast in the beginning it’s because it’s a recap of be sexually what happened in the first movie but instead of telling it in flashback form it’s told in continuity form so it’s like retailing a story of the story all over again, but in a condensed version which was a hell of a choice, I got a man most people would just do a flashback sequence and then just go into the movie and that we tell the story in a different format because I’m assuming he did not want to give up the rights again from the sequel forward
But I will say this, even that two felt much more in line with the third movie army of darkness as far as style and pacing then the original film the original evil dead film was very horror driven while this movie definitely was a horror movie, but it had a very dark humor to it. That became very symbolic of Sam Rainey.
So a couple of things I may have mentioned this already but I’m not sure so how I understood it. Sam Remi could not get the rights to use clips from the first movie to show the recap of what happened so they had to literally re-shoot a different version of what happened in the first movie new leading up to the actual storyline of what the second movie is, which then in the Laura Cannon to the movies it was considered like a semi soft reboot because it wasn’t really supposed to be a whole new different origin movie. It’s just the people who had the rights to the movies were being dicks.
My all time favourite horror movie . i remember i watched this in the early 90s , me and my friends watched it for the first time at my uncles house , we were about 8 or 9 and we thought it was the greatest movie ever !! and after we watched it we could not stop talking about it at school the next day ..
