Falana urged EFCC to hand over N32.7 billion, $ 445,000 Rolot Pulai to NSIPA

Nigerian Human Rights and Senior Advocate Lawyers, Femi Falana, have asked the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to immediately send N32.7 billion and $ 445,000 which recovered from the Ministry of Humanity Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development officials to the National Social Investment Program (NSIPA).

Falana submitted this request in a statement released on Sunday, August 24, 2025, on behalf of the Alliance about Covid-19 and so on which was still alive (ASCAB), which he was in chair.

The lawyer remembered that in January 2025, the President of Bola Tinubu had agreed to the number of N32.7 billion for the implementation of the Main National Social Investment Program (NSP) initiative, including school feeding, N-Power, conditional cash transfer, and support for small businesses through government companies and empowerment programs (Geep).

According to him, EFCC has tracked and restored the right N32.7 billion, along with $ 445,000, from officials suspected of being corrupt in the Ministry of Humanity Affairs. However, he noted that the funds had not been transferred to NSIPA, contrary to EFCC’s commitment that recovery money must be returned to a valid goal.

“We praise EFCC and urged him to intensify efforts to restore N20 billion that have not been calculated. But more importantly, who recovered N32.7 billion and $ 445,000 must be transferred to the National Social Investment Program Agency to help alleviate the difficulties faced by more than 133 million Nigerians who are poor multi-dimensional,” Falana.

He further urged the government at all levels to increase funding for NSP, emphasizing that the inflows of new revenue entered this. Quoting the number, he showed that the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) shared N2,001 trillion in July 2025 of the total N3,836 trillion gross, while N1.8 trillion was distributed in June.

“The government must exceed lip services and invest significantly in the social protection program. They must place their money in their place,” he concluded.

Falana’s statement came in the midst of increased pressure for transparency in the Nigerian social welfare program, especially after several high profile corruption scandals related to the funds intended to support the poor.
