FG and BOA reaffirm food security commitments, provide loans to Adamawa farmers – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

In support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the area of ​​food sufficiency, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Bank of Agriculture, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Japtini Foods and Retails has flagged the distribution of fertilisers, insecticides and other items to farmers in Adamawa.

The initiative named “Smallholder Support and Value Chain Programme” aimed to support small farmers in the state.

It would also increase their agricultural activities to improve agricultural production in the country and ensure food security.

Speaking at the program luncheon on Thursday in Yola, the Minister for Livestock Development, Mukhtar Idi Maiha, reiterated the commitments of the Federal Government to increase food production in the country and provide an enabling atmosphere for Nigerian farmers to carry out their agricultural activities smoothly.

He called for sensitization among people about the initiative, which he described as crucial and impactful for the country’s agricultural sector.

He urged the people of Adamawa to embrace the programme, saying it would go a long way in helping them, boost their agricultural activities and ensure food sufficiency in the country.

The minister also identified the availability of long-term loans for farmers and training of farmers on modern agricultural practices as the catalyst for agricultural development of any society.

According to him, so many achievements have been recorded in the field of agriculture and livestock development both in the state and the country, adding that very soon the federal government will come out with new programs and initiatives to support herders as well, stressing that the state being an agricultural state with a large population of herders and farmers would benefit from the initiative.

On his part, the Lamido of Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, represented by the Jimeta District Chief, thanked the Federal Government, Bank of Agriculture for the timely intervention, stressing that it would add value to agricultural activities in the state.
