FG pushes for greater health delivery, launches the inaugural summit for dental technologists
Abuja (basic reporter) The federal government reiterated its commitment to strengthen the role of dental technologists in the Nigeria health system as part of wider efforts to improve the health results in the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This was announced during the top of Maiden Dental Technologists held at the National Merit Award House in Abuja.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Thursday in Abuja, dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Wellness, which supervises the regulatory body for dental technologists, described the profession as vital for the Nigerian health ecosystem. He applauded the contributions of dental technologists, stating that their technical competence in the manufacture of dental appliances is essential for both reparative and rehabilitative care.
“Health delivery is teamwork. Without your contribution, the main duty of the dental team to restore smiles, improve oral health and improve the general well -being of people cannot be delivered optimally,” said dr. Salako.
He contested the Nigeria dental technology recording committee (DTRBN) to intensify regulatory efforts through the upscaling of the deployment of digital technology to eliminate charlatans and guarantee correct indexing, registration and annual renewal of professionals through digital systems.
“Be imminent in your regulatory responsibilities. Quacks should not be given space to operate anywhere in Nigeria,” he underlined.
Dr. Salako also encouraged dental technologists to embrace continuous learning, innovation and digital technologies to remain relevant globally and provide superior quality care and centered on the patient.
Dr. Salako officially declared the open summit, expressing optimism that the resolutions would have had a lasting impact for the health sector.
Speaking previously, Kachollom S. Daju, permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry for Health and Social Wellness, observed that the summit marked a significant milestone in the history of the profession.
He recognized the fundamental role of dental technologists in improving the quality of life of patients through craft appliances such as crowns, bridges and prostheses.
“Dental technologists, although often behind the scenes, form the backbone of modern dentistry,” said Daju. “Their work is essential to restore trust, functionality and health in millions of Nigerians.”
He praised the educational evolution of the profession, from the first certifications of the city and the guild to the establishment of institutions that want the degree as the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences in Enugu and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, highlighting the government’s commitment to the progress of the profession.
In his welcome speech, the chancellor of dental technologists of Nigeria’s recording, Mallam Idris Ahmad Bappah said that the two -day summit offers a great opportunity to listen to the famous leaders of thought, engage in a vital dialogue, attend the presentation of innovative innovations and cultivate the partners who will guide the systemic change.
Dental technology is the aspect of the supply of dental health care that deals with the art and science of the design, manufacture and maintenance of dental, oral and gold-farancial appliances (prosthesis) for the replacement of the missing part of the dental and gold-phain tissues, the Registrar underlined.
The Federal Ministry of Health has promised continuous support for the Dtrbn to build a regulatory environment that promotes innovation, professionalism and excellence in oral health services.
“Dental technologists, past, present and future”, the inaugural summit has brought together politicians, researchers, students and professionals in the sector to examine the evolution of dental technology and map a strategic future.
