Finidi George ready to return to management

Just weeks after resigning from his position as Super Eagles head coach, NPFL side Rivers United are reportedly eyeing Finidi George as their new head coach.

Finidi resigned as Super Eagles coach after the NFF decided to appoint a foreign technical adviser to take over the role, offering him the role of assistant coach instead.

Unwilling to accept relegation, the 53-year-old left the national team earlier this month.

According to a report by The Nation, Rivers United are now considering Finidi George to fill the vacant head coach position following the sacking of Stanley Eguma.

The club, dissatisfied with the performance of interim coach Evans Ogenyi, believes the former Nigeria international could rejuvenate the team after a disappointing eighth-place finish last season.

Finidi George had already achieved success by leading Enyimba to a league title, making him a serious contender to guide Rivers United back to the top.
