The story was made yesterday while the Union of Journalists of Nigeria (Nuj) appointed her first women’s national vice president, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, to preside over the planning committee for her celebration of the 70th anniversary.
The decision, announced by the partner of President Nuj Alhasan Yahya, marks a significant milestone in the commitment of the Union towards inclusion and gender representation in the leadership.
The selection of Dr. Oyetunde to lead the celebration of the anniversary underlines his reputation as a visionary leader with a story of dedication and excellence.
Speaking at the inauguration of the nine members committee, President Yahya stressed that the event would highlight the evolution of the union, the results and the vital contributions of its members in the last seven decades.
In his response, Dr. Oyetunde embraced responsibility with enthusiasm, recognizing the two -month temporal sequence for preparations and inviting the members of his committee proactive.
“This is a call to the service and, together, we will make sure that this anniversary is one of the history books,” he said.
