Former Benue state governor Samuel Ortom has called on all factions within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to set aside their differences and work towards a common goal.
In a statement released on Monday by his media aide, Terver Akase, Ortom stressed that differences of opinion were a natural part of politics, but urged party members to prioritize the greater good and focus on common goals.
Ortom, who highlighted his long-standing friendship and mutual respect with his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, urged stakeholders to find an amicable solution to the political dispute.

The statement read, “Chief Ortom said in politics, differences of opinion and positions are inevitable, but such differences often serve to deepen the democratic process and contribute to enriching discourse within political parties.
“He stressed that he and Senator Suswam have a long-standing friendship and mutual respect as leaders in the PDP and will always find amicable solutions to any political differences that may arise, with the good of the party and its members as the priority.”
The former governor’s call comes as the PDP grapples with internal conflict, with Ortom’s statement aimed at promoting unity and cohesion within the party.
By urging factions to put aside their differences, Ortom hopes to refocus attention on the PDP’s common aspirations and goals, ensuring the party remains strong and united.
