Former Kano Governor, Kabiru Gaya, quits APC, gives reasons

Former governor of Kano State, Kabiru Gaya, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gaya, who also represented Kano South in the Senate between 2015 and 2023, conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Gaya Arewa ward in Gaya Local Government Area of ​​Kano State.

In the letter, the former governor said his resignation from the ruling party was driven by careful consideration and the need to act in the best interests of his constituents.

According to him, “I hereby formally tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective today, April 5, 2026.

“It is an honor to serve under the party platform, especially during my term as Senator (2015-2023). I remain grateful for the support, trust and opportunities given to me so far.

“However, after careful reflection and extensive consultation, I have come to the considered conclusion that it is in the best interests of my constituents and my personal beliefs to step down from the party at this time. I express my sincere thanks to the party for the platform given to me and for the cooperation and friendship established over the years,” Gaya said.

His resignation marks a significant political development in Kano State, although he has not publicly revealed his next political steps.
