The Imo State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will hold a seminar on Ethics in Sports Journalism in conjunction with its general convention in Owerri on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
In a statement jointly signed by its president, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, and secretary, Tunde Liadi, the association said the seminar was themed “Balancing truth and fairness: ethical responsibilities in sports journalism”.
The statement adds that the session will be delivered by former SWAN President, Fan Ndubuoke, who is also a former Chairman of the Imo State Sports Commission and former head of the Imo State Football Association.
According to the organizers, the workshop is designed to deepen members’ understanding of ethical standards in sports journalism, with a focus on objectivity, credibility and professionalism.
SWAN noted that Ndubuoke will leverage his extensive experience in sports administration and journalism to guide participants in maintaining integrity while fostering professional relationships within the industry.
The association invited members to attend the general conference preceding the workshop and to actively participate in both commitments.
The event will be held at n. 26 School Road, Owerri.
