France to recognize the Palestinian state in September says Macron – Thage

France will recognize the Palestinian state, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, said Thursday.

“Faithful to his historical commitment for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I decided that France will recognize the state of Palestine. The urgency today is to end the war in Gaza and to provide aid to the civilian population. Peace is possible”, Macron wrote in a post on X, adding that he would have made the solemn announcement to the United Nations General Assemblies in September.

By asking for an end to the Israeli military action in Gaza, Macron stressed that “there must be an immediate fire, the release of all the hostages and the massive humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. It is also necessary to guarantee the demilitarization of Hamas, safe and reconstructed Gaza.

“Finally, it is essential to build the state of Palestine, guarantee their profitability and allow it, accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, to contribute to everyone’s safety in the Middle East”, he added.

In the meantime, the Minister of Justice of Isreal, Yariv Levin, said: “The decision of the French President Macron to recognize the Palestinian fictitious state is a black sign on the history of France and direct support to terrorism.

“The land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel, and even the declaration of President Macron cannot change it. It is time to apply Israeli sovereignty to Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley. This is a response of historical justice to the shameful decision of the French president.

“He rewards the mass murder and tells Islamist terrorists: killing Jews and the world will deliver a state. This shameful decision will be thrown into the dustbin of history.”

In addition, the Yesha Council, the umbrella organization that represents the Jewish communities in the West Bank has condemned Macron’s decision.

Yisrael Beytenu, president of Augodor Lieberman, said on X: “Recognizing a Palestinian state is a reward for terrorism and encouragement for Hamas, an organization that has carried out the most horrible massacre of Jews from the Holocaust. This is not justice, it surrenders to terrorism.”
