The police in Benue’s state successfully saved 14 passengers of the Benue Links Motors who were kidnapped on Thursday evening near Otukpo.
In a declaration issued on Friday evening, the spokesman for the State Police by Benue Catherine Anne confirmed that the rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with the members of the Civil Protection Guard of the State of Benue.
Anne reported that the driver of the bus and a passenger died of the gun wounds during the operation.
“The team immediately launched a search for the victims kidnapped inside the neighboring forest,” said Anne.
“On 4/4/2025, at 1500 hours, they sighted the bandits in the forest and engaged them in a gun duel. The upper fire power of the police submitted them, making the bandits flee and abandon their prisoners.
“Unfortunately, they had inflicted cuts in Machete on two victims before rescue. Fourteen (14) victims were saved and brought to the hospital, where one was confirmed dead and others are currently receiving care”.
