ADC puts the finishing touches on the convention venue as delegates…

Preparations were in full swing at the Rainbow Event Center in Garki, Area 8, Abuja on Monday evening, as workers adorned the hall in the colors of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for Tuesday.

The conference, themed “So the Nation Can Work”, is expected to attract over 300 delegates from across the country.

Reports claim that the chairman of the convention planning committee, former Rivers State governor Liyel Imoke, was personally overseeing the organisation.

Other senior figures of the party spotted at the venue included former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association Olumide Akpata, former PDP National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan and former Director General of the PDP Governors Forum, CID Maduabum.

While decorators worked through the night to ensure the hall was ready before dawn, party supporters were already seated on site and traders selling water, soft drinks and other items had positioned themselves at the entrance, apparently ready to spend the night on site.

The ADC had initially looked to use Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium velodrome for the convention before opting for the Rainbow Event Center following failed attempts to gain approval for both facilities.

Major agenda items of the convention include the affirmation of the National Working Committee led by former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, as well as the adoption of a revised constitution and manifesto of the party.
