Gap Infrastructure of Ponte Fcta in Abuja

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, states that the FCT administration is filling the infrastructure gap between Abuja Capital City and its rural communities.

Wike said it after inspecting the road projects in progress in Ketti and Takushara, two densely populated satellite communities within the Council of the Municipal Areas of Abuja (Amac), Saturday 19 April 2025.

The inspected roads were the 10.5 kilometer road Kabusa/Ketti, which connects the districts of Kabusa, Pyakasa and Ketti, and districts of 9.8 kilometers Kabusa/Takushara, which connects districts Kabusa, Takushara and Wasa.

Wike said that the move was in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu for inclusive development, underlining that the supply of infrastructure should not be limited to the city center.

“Mr. President has always stressed that we should not only concentrate development in the city, but extend it to satellite cities,” he said.

The minister said that the streets of Ketti and Takushara, which would act as a key arteries between the satellite cities and the city of Abuja, would have been completed and inaugurated in May.

He praised the president of the Amac Christopher Maikalangu for having attracted his attention to those he described as “two very important roads” to the development of communities.

Wike added: “If it weren’t for him, we would not have focused our attention on these areas. You can see how happy the residents of Ketti are.

“I am happy with what the contractors are doing and, it is hoped, by the end of May, these two roads will be inaugurated within the second anniversary of Mr President.”

Beyond road infrastructures, Wike revealed a wider plan to improve socio-economic and the sustenance of the inhabitants of the rural areas, including the planned construction of schools in Ketti and Takushara.

The minister said: “We promised the communities that we would have built multiple schools; the file is still on my table.

“I approved it and we are waiting for the 2025 FCT statutory budget by the National Assembly to start the construction.”
