Residents of Oke Ayo Estate, Elere, in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State have given conditions to enable them to cast their votes for any political party in the forthcoming state governorship election.
Residents stated that they would only vote for political parties that were able to provide transformers for their people ahead of the elections.
Residents conveyed this attitude on Saturday when they received the Accord Party delegation at its monthly meeting.
Speaking on behalf of the people, Chief Afolabi Maxwell commended the Ademola Adeleke government for ensuring that the benefits of democracy reach the grassroots.
However, he regretted that there were still no transformers in the community, considering that residents had lived without transformers for more than four years.

Maxwell recalled several failed attempts by previous community leaders to obtain transformers through prominent individuals, including Chief Mrs. Dupe Adeleke-Sanni and Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, as well as federal lawmakers representing the region.
“I say this openly so that everyone can hear, the residents of Oke Ayo Estate, Elere will vote for any political party that provides a fully installed transformer before the August 15 gubernatorial election,” he said.
Responding, the Chairman of the Accord in Elere, Saheed Ajibola, thanked the residents for recognizing Governor Adeleke’s efforts in the community.
Ajibola assured them that their requests would be communicated to the governor and other relevant authorities, and described electricity supply as a priority need.
He also appreciated the community’s support for the 2022 gubernatorial election and asked for continued support for the governor’s re-election efforts.
Meanwhile, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman Nurein Raji-Lawal had earlier visited the community and promised to facilitate the supply of transformers ahead of the elections.
