Gombe government dissolves executive council amid suspected political realignments

Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has dissolved the Gombe State Executive Council, in a move widely interpreted as part of ongoing political recalibrations within the state.

The decision was announced Wednesday during the 53rd meeting of the State Executive Council, although no official reason for this radical action was provided at this time.

However, credible sources within government circles suggest that the dissolution may not be unrelated to emerging political interests and changing alliances among senior members of the government, especially as permutations ahead of future elections begin to gain momentum.

The abrupt dissolution of the council is expected to significantly reshape the political structure of the state’s executive arm, with observers describing it as a strategic move to consolidate power and reposition the administration.

Despite the developments, indications have emerged that the governor may constitute a new cabinet in the coming days to ensure continuity of governance and prevent disruption of ongoing projects and policies.

At the time of submitting this report, the affected commissioners and other political appointees had not yet officially reacted to their removal.

It is expected that further details on the composition of the new executive board and the factors behind the decision will be provided in the coming days.
