Gov Otu celebrates imake at 64

Calabar (basic reporter) The Governor of the Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has made homage to his predecessor, senator Liyel Imoke, describing him as “an uncommon statesman of grace” whose life and leadership continue to inspire generations.

In a sincere message of congratulations released to Calabar by his main press secretary and special consultant for the media and advertising, Mr. Linus Obogo, the governor Otu praised the legacy of Imeke, recalling his style of calm but resolute leadership, transformative governance and the lasting commitment for the Cross River project.

“Governor Liyel Imoke remains a gentleman of purpose, whose light life reflects visionary leadership, the noble pedigree and silent excellence,” said Otu. “He wore the Ghirlanda of the public service with dignified humility and left indelible footprints on the sands of our development journey.”

Imake, who was governor of Cross River State from 2007 to 2015, is widely credited to his reference interventions in rural development, education and empowerment of young people. Governor Otu praised these contributions as a foundation of the current state trajectory.

“Your inheritance is engraved in the development of human capital and rural transformation. You have not governed with noise, but with noble impact. We continue to draw strength from your ethos of construction of the bridge and from the quiet trust with which you guided,” added Otu.

Describing Imoke as “a refined mind and custodian of the Dream of Cross River”, Governor Otu observed that the life of the former governor has become a compass for increasing leaders throughout Nigeria.

While the former governor has marked the milestone with family, friends and supporters, Otu has offered prayers for years more fruitful to come: “You can in advance of you are crowned with joy, robust health and divine wisdom. Happy birthday, your excellence-statter elderly, mentor and quiet darling beacon.”
