Grandiness launches the Lagos-Abekuta heritage tour to promote cultural tourism

A new travel company, Great Breasur Signature Travel & Tours, has launched a tourist initiative of the heritage with a train tour from Lagos to Abekuta, aimed at promoting Nigerian cultural history and enhancing domestic tourism.

The one -day tour, which marked the official debut of the company, brought tourists to the main historical sites in the capital of the State of Ogun, including Olumo Rock, Alake’s Palace, The Centenary Hall, ObasGun Obasanjo Presidential Library and Itoku Market, famous for its traditional tissue to be to say.

The founder of the company, Prince Yemesis Adedoyin Shyllon, said that the objective of the project is to deepen cultural awareness among the Nigerians and in particular connect those of the diaspora to their roots.

“This is more than tourist. It is a question of creating significant experiences that connect people to their inheritance,” said Shyllon, who is a well -known promoter of arts and tourism and a member of the Royal Ake family.

The tour included train travel from Lagos, private buses inside Abeokuta, lunch, guided narrative on each site and branded kit for the participants. Each tourist paid ₦ 100,000 for the complete package.

Tourists also had the opportunity to interact with local craftsmen and traders, helping to improve small businesses in the area.

Tourism experts believe that these heritage -based tours can help to relaunch the Nigeria tourism sector, which currently contributes less than 4% to national GDP. On a global level, tourism contributes to about 10% to the economy, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Lucy Abena, curator of tourism, said: “If correctly managed, cultural tours like this can create jobs and support various sectors such as hospitality, transport and local crafts”.

Some tourists have described the experience as an educational and stimulating. “He seemed to walk through a living history book,” said Sandra Adebayo, one of the participants.

The initiative reflects a growing trend between the Nigerians abroad who are trying to reconnect with their culture through local experiences.

Although it is still in its initial phase, the Great Breopeur Signature’s heritage tour was described by the interested parties as a promising step to build a stronger tourist industry in Nigeria.
