A female pilgrim from the state of the plateau, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, died in the pilgrimage of Hajj in progress in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
This brought the number of death between the Nigerian contingent in the holy pilgrimage of this year to three.
Previously, the pilgrims of Edo and Abia, Mrs. Adizatu Dazumi and Alhaji Saleh Galeh, have lost their lives.

The executive secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda, confirmed the last death on Monday.
According to Dauda, the deceased Pellegrino died at the King Abdu’Aziz hospital in Makkah due to diabetic complications.
Dauda recalled, when she was informed of her condition, she ordered the medical team to take her immediately to the hospital for an adequate drug.
“It conforms to the directives of our governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang who was taken to the hospital.”
“From God we are and for him, we will return. With a heavy heart and a total submission to the will of Allah, the plateau wishes to announce the death of one of his females pilgrims, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, Monday 2 June 2025,” he added.
He said that Amirul Hajj, as well as some other officials, together with the relatives of the deceased, participated in his funeral prayers in the large mosque, and has since been buried according to the Islamic rites.
