House announces the date for the second open week of the National Assembly
Abuja (Core reporter) The House of Representatives has announced that it will host the second edition of the *National Assembly Open Week “starting from Tuesday 8 July to Thursday 10 July 2025 *. This event underlines the commitment of the Chamber to open governance, legislative transparency, citizens’ commitment and institutional responsibility.
In the medium term of the tenth mandate of the assembly, the open week presents a timely platform to demonstrate the commitment of the popular house for responsibility, strengthen public trust and involve the interested parties on the evolution role of the legislator in the democratic journey of Nigeria.
The * opening ceremony * will present observations by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Gcon and a main speech by the supervisor of the House of Representatives, RT. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Phd, Gcon. National and international dignitaries will deliver messages of good will. The event will also include an interactive *session *and, as a central culminating point, the official launch of the legislative *scorecard *of the Chamber *. This Scorecard captures the legislative results of the Chamber, supervision interventions and reform initiatives in the last two years.
The three -day program will include thematic sessions focused on key national priorities. These will cover:
* Agriculture, food safety and nutrition
* Political inclusion of women
* The constitutional role of traditional sovereigns
* Economic reforms and participation of citizens
* Youth commitment in governance
Senator Kashim Shettimo, Gcon, vice -president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and president of the National Council on Nutrition, will provide special observations during the food and nutritional safety session.
The participants per open week will be taken from several electoral colleges, including professional associations, civil society organizations, development partners, organized private sector, groups of students and young people, traditional sovereigns and others. This wide representation reflects the participatory nature of the open week and the character focused on the people of the tenth legislative agenda of the assembly.
