The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate redeployment of Commissioners of Police in Rivers, Delta and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to enhance the effectiveness of the Police.
In the reshuffle, CP Olatunji Disu of Rivers Command will take over as the new CP for FCT, while CP Abaniwonda Olufemi will take over command in Rivers. CP Peter Opara, formerly of FCT, will now head Delta State Command.
A statement released on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted, “Following the approval of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police has also posted four (4) CPs as Commissioners of Police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi and Akwa-Ibom State Commands.”

The new assignments include CP Danladi Nda to Abia, CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale to Lagos, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya to Ebonyi, and CP Festus Eribo to Akwa-Ibom.
The Chief of Police emphasized that this strategic placement aims to “reposition the Police and ensure maximum utilization of human resources available to the Police.”
He urged the newly appointed CPs to discharge their duties diligently and adopt innovative strategies to address security challenges in their jurisdictions. Egbetokun also encouraged them to engage in the police reform plan, designed to enhance the effectiveness of the Nigerian Police Force and contribute to national growth.
