The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that over 6.85 million Nigerians have participated in the ongoing nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise on October 5.
According to INEC’s Week Six update published on its website on Tuesday, the figure represents the total number of pre-online registrations completed across the country since the exercise began.
Of the total number, 3.58 million, representing 52.23 percent, were women, while 3.27 million, or 47.77 percent, were men. Inec further revealed that young Nigerians continued to dominate the process, with 4,689,637 of the pre-online registrants falling in the 18-34 age bracket.
The Commission noted that 1,728,384 of the applicants identified as students, while 154,479 were people living with disabilities (PWD), reflecting an inclusive trend in the registration exercise.
INEC also revealed that 1,216,048 Nigerians have so far completed their voter registration as of October 5. Of this number, 658,766 completed the process after initially registering online, while 557,282 registered completely through physical means.

The data shows that women still lead the registration figures, with 675,222 completed registrations – 55.53 percent of the total – compared to 540,826 men, representing 44.47 percent.
Youth participation continues to dominate voter data, with those aged 18 to 34 accounting for 897,676 of the completed registrations. Students remained a major demographic force, accounting for 424,126 completed registrations during the sixth week alone.
Inec further confirmed that 17,450 people living with disabilities successfully completed their registration during the period, underlining the Commission’s commitment to inclusive electoral participation.
