Barau FC CEO Dominic Iorfa has dismissed speculation of a rift between him and the club’s technical advisor Eugene Agagbe.
Speculation about the relationship between the two referees intensified after Iorfa was seen on the bench during the club’s final matches.
Iorfa denies breaking up with Agagbe
However, the former Nigerian international insisted that there was no misunderstanding between them and explained that his involvement in the team’s training was solely to ensure that the players remained in good shape.
“There is no reason to suggest that there is a rift between us. Speculation may have arisen after reports that I took charge of team training after our match against Rangers International,” Iorfa told club media.
“The truth is that coach Eugene Agagbe was away conducting his CAF A License course and I had to supervise the team’s physical training in his absence.
“As CEO, I believe in doing whatever it takes to ensure the team stays in good shape and continues to progress.”

Barau FC will soon return to winning ways
Barau FC is going through a difficult stage in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), having accumulated five consecutive league games without a win.
Despite the disappointing run, Iorfa has urged fans to be patient and expressed confidence that the team will improve its results in the upcoming matches.
“I want our fans to continue to be patient and continue to support the team. We are still building and there is a lot of work to do,” he said.
“We have shown that we can compete in this league and our current position reflects the progress we have made.
“I also praise the competitive nature of the NPFL and the quality of refereeing. Results across the league have shown that visiting teams can earn points on the road, and Barau FC has benefited from this competitive balance.
“We will continue to work hard, face the upcoming matches with renewed determination and strive to return to winning ways.
“I assure our supporters that the club remains firmly on track and we are determined to finish the season strongly. I urge everyone to support the team responsibly and avoid actions that could undermine our progress.”
