Japan Tobacco appoints Abdullah Simba GM for Nigeria

Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has announced the appointment of Abdallah Simba as a new general manager for his operations in Nigeria, starting from 1 May 2025.

Abdallah brings to the role almost two decades of commercial and strategic leadership experience, having held key positions in several markets and at the global headquarters in JTI in Geneva.

He joined JTI in Tanzania in 2005 in marketing before taking an international assignment in Ireland in 2009. He later went to broader commercial roles, guiding various sales and marketing skills with growing responsibilities.

In 2013, Abdallah moved to the global headquarters of JTI in Geneva, where he progressed in senior roles within the function of global commercial strategy. In these roles, he has guided the optimization of business models, guided market strategies and qualified commercial teams in a wide range of markets.

More recently, Abdallah has been a country manager for Slovakia, where he successfully guided a profitable multi -growing growth and an operational strengthening, positioning the activity for long -term sustainability.

He graduated in Sciences from Southern New Hampshire University in International Business.

The appointment of Abdallah underlines JTI’s commitment and the ambition to deepen his footprints on the Nigerian market. It happens to Thomas Adams, who has successfully guided Nigerian activity in the past four years.

Speaking of his new appointment, Abdallah said: “I am happy to drive JTI Nigeria right now. Nigeria is an important market with a huge potential and I can’t wait to work with the fantastic team here to continue to grow our business sustainablely”.
