Nigerian-born youngster from Italy’s Genoa, Osayuki Jeff Ekhator, has received intense summer transfer attention from his club’s Italian Serie A rivals, Juventus, who are seriously considering adding him to their ranks.
Sports247 reports that Juventus, who have a strong tradition of targeting Nigerian players, dating back to the days of Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh and Benjamin Chukwuka Onwuachi, are eager to renew that link with Ekhator.
Incidentally, their most recent efforts to snag Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have failed to materialize in the past two seasons, but the Old Lady of Turin’s top players believe they can land Ekhator this summer.
A report from Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed: “Juventus are closely monitoring Ekhator ahead of the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old has impressed with his limited chances with Genoa so far this season.
“(After) scoring two Serie A goals in 24 games, five of which were starts, it is understood that, although the Juventus staff do not believe the striker is ready to make an impact in the first team yet, he is highly regarded for the future.”
Sports247 concluded that Ekhator’s future prospects are not in doubt as the lad, who was born to Nigerian parents on November 11, 2006 in Genoa, Italy, has already made six appearances and scored one goal for the Italian under-19 team.
