Troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA early Sunday morning.rescued 31 hostages kidnapped from a church in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Nigerian Army disclosed this in its operational report provided to journalists on Sunday.
It said the attackers attacked a branch of the Evangelical Church for West Africa (ECWA) in Ariko village and targeted worshipers who were holding a religious meeting.

The report read: “Acting on credible intelligence, troops of Sub-Sector 5, Operation FASAN YAMMA were immediately deployed at approximately 09.20hrs on April 5, 2026 to Ariko Village following reports of a terrorist attack on ECWA Church.
“In this operation, troops made contact with terrorists and succeeded in rescuing 31 kidnapped people, including one injured victim.
“However, five people were confirmed dead in the attack, and troops recovered their bodies and returned them to the community.”
