Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied reports that he was offered N500 billion to contest the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi and split the South-South vote in the upcoming 2027 elections.
The Special Media Adviser to Jonathan, Ikechukwu Eze in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, described the publication as completely false and baseless.
Eze called on Nigerians to ignore what he described as false reports from “little-known websites” that “falsely” attributed statements to Jonathan claiming that he was offered some money.

Stating that the fabrications did not meet the most basic standards of journalism, Eze said: “The report failed to state where or when Jonathan allegedly made the claims, who was present or who purportedly made the alleged offers.”
Eze noted that the publication contained the characteristics of fake news deliberately designed to mislead the public and drag the former president into unnecessary political controversies.
Recognizing that the approaching political season often brings an increase in misinformation and false attributions, he urged Nigerians to ignore such reports in their entirety and verify sensational claims before spreading them.
